Description

The 2024 Edition of the 8th Grade Georgia Studies and Economics workshop features five all-new lessons that incorporate economic concepts into history, geography, and government. The lessons are interactive and use fresh approaches to topics such as entrepreneurship, water usage in Georgia, budgeting, and more!

Building on our first workshop, this session will place a special emphasis on strengthening the critical literacy skills students need for success in Georgia Studies. Teachers will explore practical ways to help students make clear claims, select and use relevant evidence, explain their reasoning, and write strong constructed responses—all while deepening their understanding of essential Georgia Studies and economic concepts.

Instructional materials and model teaching strategies proven to help students understand key concepts and communicate their learning will be shared. Teachers will receive ready-to-use lessons and additional resources aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence.

Audience: Grade 8
