YKK entered the U.S. market in 1960 as Yoshida International, a zipper distributor. In 1972, YKK Corporation purchased 54 acres in Ocmulgee Park in Macon, Georgia to build its National Manufacturing Center, which opened in 1974. Today, YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. occupies 300 acres in Macon and offers more than 1,500 styles of plastic and metal zippers, the automated equipment to install them, as well as hook and loop self-closing tape fastening systems as well as for the personal protective equipment, tactical equipment, transportation, personal care, luggage, furniture, and sporting goods industries. This is a live manufacturing facility so no open-toed shoes are allowed. There will be significant walking so dress comfortably with appropriate footwear.
